Product Validation at Early Stages of Development

For Germany, as a hub of economy and innovation, it is mandatory to maintain sustainable growth of businesses by developing new products and placing them on the market successfully. Therefore, it is important to validate as early as possible whether a product in development is suitable for the market or if it is suitable at a certain time.

For this highly sensitive topic, the Campus for Professional Development offers a practice-oriented workshop on an annual basis, which not only provides an overview about product validation processes in general, but also about early stages of specific product development. Our goal is to develop a process for the capital goods industry, which can filter the most promising ideas out of a large and general pool ideas by means of certain “tools” at early stages of development.

Course Details

First, during the workshop, validation processes and their value will be discussed from a scientific point of view. Afterwards, three experts from different large-scale companies will present and explain their validation methods. Following the presentations, experts and participants are invited to take part in a moderated panel discussion.

We focus on engineers and employees in the capital goods industry interested in technology who wish to implement and optimise a validation process.

Prof. Dr.‐Ing. Winfried Wilke was responsible for validation processes in various companies before becoming a professor at FHWS. All other lecturers are also facing the topic of validation during their work, directly or indirectly.
